Wayne Disposal and Michigan Disposal Waste Treatment Plant
Wayne Disposal, Inc. (WDI) is an EQ facility located in Van Buren Township (Belleville), Michigan. WDI is the only commercial hazardous waste landfill in Michigan and one of only seven of its type in the United States. It is designed to securely contain solid (non-liquid) waste in compliance with Land Disposal Restrictions.
Michigan Disposal Waste Treatment Plant (MDWTP) is an EQ facility co-located at the same property as WDI in Van Buren Township, Michigan. MDWTP is the largest stabilization and treatment facility in North America (by volume) with the ability to process hazardous and non-hazardous materials through stabilization, chemical oxidation/reduction, deactivation, micro encapsulation and other permitted technologies. MDWTP manages more than 600 federal and state waste codes.
WDI and MDWTP have been operating in Van Buren Township for many years and is a stable employer for more than 350 people in Southeast Michigan. WDI/MDWTP and EQ strive to ensure the safety and protection of the surrounding community, the environment and its employees. WDI/MDWTP remains committed to minimizing the environmental impacts of its services through sustainable actions including recycling, reuse, pollution prevention and conservation.
WDI Operating License Application and MDWTP Permit to Temporarily Store PCB Waste Application
WDI submitted a license application to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to develop an existing parcel of land on the property into additional landfill space for continued disposal of hazardous waste and PCB waste. Michigan Disposal Waste Treatment Plant (WDWTP), which is co-located at the same site, applied to the US EPA for a permit to temporarily store PCB waste.
