Solid and Liquid Treatment

EQ operates the two largest treatment and stabilization facilities in North America.  In conjunction with our hazardous waste landfill, EQ offers the largest waste treatment and disposal capacity in the industry.  Our facilities also have the most state-of-the-art air handling systems and can handle a variety of liquid and solid waste streams.

Treatment Process

Wastes containing organic contaminates are treated via chemical oxidation, a process that breaks down the organic material.  EQ has the only facility in the United States with a Regenerative Thermal Oxidation (RTO) air management system, required to manage high VOC wastes regulated by RCRA.

Hazardous debris streams are managed using microencapsulation treatment technology. This process reduces the leachability of hazardous constituents so the material can be safely disposed of in a RCRA subtitle C landfill.

To treat metal bearing wastes, EQ uses a pozzolonic stabilization process that decharacterizes the waste so that it can be disposed of in a non-hazardous subtitle D landfill for disposal.

EQ also has the capability to treat certain waste streams below regulatory thresholds so that they no longer carry hazardous waste listed codes under RCRA.  EQ’s delisting treatment process involves conducting a series of reactions using wastes and reagents to neutralize the waste, precipitate the metals and create insoluble metal compounds.  Once the waste meets the delisting criteria it is shipped to a non-hazardous subtitle D landfill for disposal.
