Cleveland Hopkins International Airport

In 1995, Inland Waters of Ohio, Inc., (IWO) was awarded a 6 week pilot project at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to explore the feasibility for using specially modified high volume vacuum trucks, or "Glycol Recovery Vehicles" (GRVs) to recover spent deicing fluid. Since this initial pilot study, IWO has been successful in obtaining every glycol recovery contract since (current contract extends through 2006) and has become a welcome fixture among airside operations at CHIA.

IWO's 400,000 gallon storage/treatment facility at CHIA (on site operations) is utilized to store and segregate the recovered fluids according to the glycol concentration. Low level fluids are discharged to the local POTW via an existing discharge permit, while the higher concentrate fluids are shipped for recycle/reuse to EQ's Glycol Processing Unit at EQRR, Romulus, Michigan.

Contact EQ if a recycle/processing partner would complete your scope of services at your airport.
