C.E. Rogers supplies Mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) and Thermal vapor recompression (TVR) evaporators for use in glycol recovery, starting at concentrations up to 25%, and with a direct steam or thermal fluid finisher, generating concentrations up to 80% glycol.

MVR evaporators use a mechanical compressor to compress vapor and re-use the compressed vapor as the heat source for evaporation.

  • MVR units are used in markets where electrical rates are favorable compared to steam costs. Single compressor units can range from 5 to 200 gpm influents. Multiple evaporators can be combined in parallel to handle any flow rate required.
  • MVR evaporators use a mechanical compressor driven by an electric motor, as the driving force of evaporation. Steam turbines and internal combustion engines have been used in place of electric motors in specific applications, but electric motors are the most common.
  • In addition to being more energy efficient MVR evaporators typically require less floor space than comparably sized TVR evaporators.
  • In glycol applications MVR evaporators can see efficiencies up to 95 lb./hr evaporation per kW.
C.E. Rogers offers a mobile MVR evaporator with capacities from 5-20 gpm. The mobile units are self contained systems that require very little set-up with each relocation. Mobile units can be used to determine feasibility of a full scale evaporator.

TVR evaporators - Thermal vapor recompression units use steam as the motive for evaporation. High pressure steam is used to re-compress vapor from evaporation and re-use it in addition to the high pressure steam to power evaporation
  • TVR units can be sized to handle flow rates from 5 to 350 gpm influent.
  • Multiple effect TVR evaporators can reach efficiencies up to 9.5 lb. evaporation to 1 lb. of motive steam.
Product, final concentration and boiling point elevation all contribute to evaporator efficiency. For more information on C.E. Rogers and Company and evaporative technologies, please visit www.cerogers.com.
